I have given up on finding a good military science fiction read I haven't already read for a while (I'm not really looking for "space fleet" action right now. That of course is simply one of the AMAZING things that happen to our hero. You don't grad from officer's school a Captain.period. That's like the pathetic plotting in the new Star Trek where James Kirk jumps from a cadet of Star Fleet Academy up on charges directly to command of the Enterprise. As Charlie Brown would say, "Oh Good Grief". Add to that the "Marty-Stu or Gary-Stu" type protagonist he graduates from officer candidate school as a captain due to his amazing performance.

With a mediocre reader and a text which reads like an extended " outline" there are enough problems. Another said it read like poor "fan fiction". I don't recall who put this in a review but I don't want to plagiarize and I do want to give credit where it's due so I'll simply say one of the other reviewers said this was like an "outline". I got it from Audible based on it's synopsis (and returned it based on it's quality). I read 2 that were at best mediocre and now this one. I have of late been in the mood for a well done military science fiction read. I love military science fiction and good military fantasy.

I wanted to like this book.I mean I really WANTED to.
